Fresh off the Fall 2020 Bridal Fashion Week runways!
There are many things to stress over on your wedding to-do list, from booking a venue to finalizing your guest list (don’t worry—we’re here to help you through it all!). But one task that shouldn’t cause worry is choosing your wedding hairstyle and makeup look. That’s one of the fun parts of wedding planning! And it’s never easier than right after Bridal Fashion Week, when the newest bridal trends make their debut.
While 2020 brides should of course pay close attention to all the fresh wedding dress trends on the Bridal Fashion Week runways (we’ve recapped our favorites here!), you’d be amiss to not notice all of the new wedding beauty trends, too.
Lush bushels of blooms adorned the hair of models—think literal hair bouquets!—at several shows this season. Glittering jewel-encrusted headbands were also worn down the runway, and we’re already envisioning them on brides dancing the night away at their receptions. And as for makeup, pretty purple pouts were an unexpected departure from the traditional pink and nude lipsticks you typically see on brides.
Ready to see all of our favorite wedding beauty trends from Fall 2020’s Bridal Fashion Week? Perhaps one of them will end up being part of your own wedding day look!
Carrying your bouquet is so last year… Well, sort of: While walking down the aisle with an armful of fresh blooms certainly won’t ever go out of style, models this season were seen rocking an entire bouquet’s worth of flowers in their tresses and it’s hard not to be charmed by this garden-fresh trend.
While some of these runway-ready looks may be a little too over-the-top for your traditional ceremony, the point is to not be afraid to go big and bold when it comes to florals—the look is undeniably romantic. (Above: Marchesa)
Bejeweled and Pearl Headbands
Shine bright, baby! To match your megawatt smile on your wedding day are these super sparkly headbands, encrusted with jewels and pearls. Glamorous and bold, these gorgeous gilded hair accessories are just the thing to keep those flyaways out of your face while killing it on the dance floor. (Above: Lela Rose)
Mwah! We could just kiss this wedding makeup trend. While pinks and nudes will always be here to stay, purple pouts were popping up on the runways this season. While some may see it as an unusual choice for brides, purple lip hues can be incredibly flattering. Look to a berry-tinted hydrating balm (we love Dior Lip Glow in Berry) for a subtle and shiny wash of color. (Above: Marchesa)
Ribbons and Bows
What could be a more fitting look for tying the knot than one tied with ribbon? Hair this season was decidedly feminine with styles featuring big bows and tied back with both silky and velvet ribbons. One model at Lela Rose even rocked a fully pearl-encrusted bow for a look that tied together (get it?) classic and modern aesthetics. Could this trend be any sweeter? (Above: Lela Rose)
Designers seemed to have a case of Saturday Night Fever this season with an array of beauty looks inspired by the decade of disco. Stark streaks of white eyeliner were painted on the faces of models at Laure de Sagazan, and Honor NYC experimented with gorgeous green shadows. Meanwhile, glittering face gems caught the light at Morilee by Madeline Gardner. (Above Laure de Sagazan)
Every princess bride needs a crown and these beautiful braids are of the sweetest variety. Bold, whimsical braids were the crowning touch this season, as models wore them roped around the crowns of their head for a dreamy look that’ll stay put from ceremony through reception. Full milkmaid braids made their way down the Ines Di Santo runway, while the look was a little softer and more romantic at Marchesa. (Above: Ines Di Santo)
Everything’s coming up roses—especially with a wedding makeup look this pretty. Soft and subtle rosy hues were washed over the lids of models this season, adding a romantic warmth to eyes and complexions. The finish can be shimmery, like at Marchesa, or matte, like at Monique Lhuillier. But either way, the look is a subtle one that lets your natural beauty shine on through. (Above: Marchesa)
